Idol is Changing Judges Like Destiny Child Changed Girls

American Idol is Falling Apart at the Seams!!!

**UPDATE** whooooooa is this an update. (but it is from TMZ so who knows??? but apparently Kara DioGuari has been kicked to the curb faster than poor Alex Lambert (my mullet lover) and it is going back to the 3 man system: The Dawg is still there, J-LO and Steven Tyler (Since Aerosmith is even more of a mess than this judging panel!)

It was announced yesterday by 19 Entertainment that Ellen DeGeneres is leaving Idol. She had stepped down from her role, due to a busy work schedule and the difficulty of telling talented (and not so talented) people their dreams may not come true and therefore, hurting their feelings. As much as I love Ellen, her role was kind of pointless. Her talk show is hilarious and she has great comedic timing in interviewing celebs… I truly believe people like going on that show! (Plus those awesomely silly games like the Sumo wrestling and “Know Or Go”… HILARIOUS!) Ellen was the voice of the average American who doesn’t know much about the technical side of music and can comment on the artists in that manner. But as a huge music lover… I believe that show needs legit judges. 1) For the artists sake who are there to improve themselves musically and 2) sometimes America needs to be told who will sell. There is a lot of money put into the winner of the show and we don’t need another marketing bomb like season 5. (I understood the appeal of Taylor Hicks… he was fun, different and vibrant: fresh air to the show… but no way from a record company standpoint was he a better cash cow than Katherine McPhee—and I was not  a fan of hers!)

Also, big news coming from 19 Entertainment on Monday in the form of a press release stating whom the new judge will be. Rumors have been circulating since Simon Cowell’s departure announcement (*tear*) at the beginning of season 9. We have heard everyone from Jessica Simpson (please God no!), to Courtney Love (is she sober now?), to Harry Connick Jr. (would love to see this charming man every week). The latest rumor is Jenny from the block (J LO?? Really??) is gonna hit up the Hollywood block to be a judge. I wonder if she will be cruel like Cowell or tipsy and sweet like Paula? And I wonder how long it will take Kara DioGuardi and Randy “Dawg” Jackson to jump ship. Nigel Lythgoe (crazy Brit on SYTYCD—and what he knows about getting down on the dance floor, I have no idea) is apparently coming back as executive producer and lets hope his first order of business is not to place himself behind the infamous judges table.

These poor naïve 15 year olds who are now lining up to be on the biggest show most altering show in America are not gonna know how good it was back in the day. I’ll miss the day Randy said ‘Dawg’ waaaaay to much, and when Simon told someone they would be stoned to death for singing like that (if it was 200 years ago of course), and when Paula flirted… I mean fought… with Simon. Too much change is happening… I wonder how it will affect the show with its already declining ratings? I for one will most likely follow my heart and one true love Simon Cowell to the US version of X Factor—I mean where else can I get my weekly mentoring from? And another hope from the depths of my soul… I hope Ry Ry Seacrest adds another job to his resume and jumps on that train as host! *crosses fingers*

I think J-Lo has potential. I agree with you on a lot of points…like Ellen. I love her- but her on idol wasn’t as fantastically amazing as I thought it would be. I wish simon would stay. i’m not sure how i feel that there are 15 year olds. my best friend is trying out on the sunday auditions at the meadowlands. she is 22.

J-LO for sure has the best potential…
and good luck to your friend!!! : )
