Things That I Miss
Posted on: August 24, 2010
I feel like nothing exciting is going on in the world of pop culture…. except maybe the fact that Kanye West is going to release a new song each week, which is good because 1) we get new music and 2) if he releases his album the same day as Lee DeWyze, which is the plan, that will be good because if we already heard a lot of his music then people won’t be rushing to get the album. But I digress.
So due to the fact that nothing is going on…. I have been watching some of my favorite old television shows online and listening to some old music. And this is where I will outline it all and discuss how much I love it.
Dawson’s Creek:
I LOVE THIS SHOW!! This is the reason why I have completely logical view on love, and I guess pretty much life in general. If you have a question about life… watch this show and you’ll have the answer. The show is so great and the characters are just wonderful.
Dawson is such a little nerd and whiny but no one really likes him anyway, Joey is a little annoying, but sweet because mainly she isn’t dating Tom Cruise. Pacey… wooooow Pacey. We all know he is my beloved and I just adore him… even when he is mean and yelling.(See below) Jen… the sexy vixen in highschool… I mean who didn’t have one of those in school?? Jack, my first encounter with a gay tv character… what now Will & Grace! And Andie the overachiever who I related to way to much (minus the fact that she goes crazy and sees her dead brother).
Not to mention all the other great characters like Gail and Mitch Leery in their dysfunctional but loving marriage, mean and abusive Mr. Witter and Deputy Doug, future husband of Jack McPhee. Grams!!! how could you forget sweet, old, loveable Grams. And there are so many more and so much more that this series goes through I’m not going to document it all… but here are a few moments that changed my middle school being. (And I’m not kidding… I couldn’t focus in school thinking about all that was happening in Capeside)
First gay character in my naive little world.
Wish someone would buy me a wall and paint sweet things on it for me.
Even when he is screaming you can’t help but love him more.
saddest thing ever.
last scene. Still cry when I see it.
OMG LOVE THIS SHOW. Not to mention it always had an awesome soundtrack attached to it. And the greatest theme song ever.
I am going to stop rambling about how wonderful it is. If you’ve never seen it… watch it. It will answer all your life’s questions. I promise.
O-Town:
No, I am not referring to the wonderful city of Orlando. I am making reference to one of the greatest boy bands and Making The Band seasons ever.
Making the Band was a show long before P Diddy got his hands on it and ruined it.
Here is a random clip to prove to you this is real. I should have just watched this show instead of go to college and I would have learned all I needed about the Music Industry instead of paying to learn about it.
This band is perfect. I loved watching them audition and form an actual group. I love pop music and I even love the manufactured side of it! There I said it!! The show was so much better before Puff Daddy got involved and wrecked it with his shenanigans.
But how could you not love a group who’s first single is about wet dreams
O-Town may be able to answer some of your life questions as well.

So those are two things I miss dearly. Maybe this will be a weekly report. All the things I miss. This has gone on for way to long and I apologize if you are still reading. But thanks!

Commercial Awards!
Posted on: August 24, 2010
Whenever me and my friend watch tv together we comment out loud on everything… from the actual show we are watching to the commercials.
We decided we are going to give out awards to the commercials. The funniest ones, the awful ones, the ones with hot guys, the one with the worst outfits… you get the idea. (and by give out awards I mean just say to the tv screen what award it won)
The Snuggie commercial below has to win something. I’m not sure what category yet…. but it will win.
My favorite parts:
1) the dog snuggie
2) the dance sequence
3) oh and lets not forget the centerfold snuggie
Those people over at the Snuggie company have the best job!
** UPDATE **
This is the gayest commercial…. really flamboyant man. Love it.

Jersey Shore Pay Day!
Posted on: August 23, 2010
The Situation… who I believe may be crazy enough to legally change his name to that (and God I hope that happens)…. will make $5 million this year!
WTF?!?!?
$5 million ?!?!??! That makes me feel kinda sorta awful about my life. But not enough to work hard and become a doctor or lawyer.
I’ll probably never make that in my lifetime, but it doesn’t really bother me so much because as I go through my “never going to make $5 million” life at least I’ll be entertained.
I am a fan. A HUGE FAN of Jersey Shore. This all happened suddenly, and it makes me a little queasy and embarrassed. I said this before and I’m going to continue to blame this all on Mamadukes.
Mamadukes watches Jersey Shore in secret like she is a 13-year-old boy watching porn. She quickly changes the channel when someone walks in on her and she pretends to only know about it from what other people tell her.
But I caught her… and now we watch it in shame together.
Not only does she watch and laugh along to the absurdity on-screen… she has a favorite cast member. She loves… I mean LOVES Pauly D and his hair.
” I just think he is so cute!” – Mamadukes
Oh and let’s not forget she knows what G.T.L., I.F.F. and D.T.F. stand for. She stated loud and proud what D.T.F. stood for as I naively asked.
Yes, I promise this is all true.
So as I tell Mamadukes about the payday these kids are receiving, she isn’t angry. In fact, I think she is happy because she is hoping I will marry one of these Italian stallions pictured below (not Pauly D though because his hair is way better than mine and that may mean he is too good for me) and they could take care of me.
So read this article if you want to see a ridiculous picture of The Situation and read all about his endeavors.
I’m going to get back to my job that will NOT earn me $5 million dollars and watch some Jersey Shore.

Everyone’s favorite mullet friend debuted a new song with his newly formed band in the If I Can Dream House.
“Butterflies” is the new jam. Well this is the “in progress acoustic version”. I know the clip is unnecessarily long, but it’s definitely worth checking out. It contains music, bickering, and snacking.
p.s. that hair is becoming its own entity.
If this is “in progress” just imagine the final mix and mastered version of all these awesome demos he is giving us.
His music is so radio friendly. I can not wait until he has a legit record deal and releases a full LP. He is such a breath of fresh air.
And just because I can do it… check out that mullet! Loooooooove it!

Chelsea Handler Is A Matchmaker!

So as we all know Chelsea Handler is hosting the VMAs this year (thank you again Universe) and this means hilarity and insanity will ensue.
Last year we all saw the most awkward moment in MTV history: the hijacking of darling Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech by the ego-tastic Kanye West. (Don’t worry I have evidence via a picture above)
And if the stars are aligned these two will be reunited on the stage with Handler being the mediator ringleader.
“I want to go and film some ridiculous stuff and see if Kanye, if we can do something with Kanye, because I always talk about Kanye, so he seems like he’d be in on the fun. We just had our first couple of meetings the last couple of weeks, and then we’ll figure out a plan.” -Chelsea Handler
Love this woman!
And in other Kanye news a remix of “Power” was released featuring Jay Z and Swizz Beats. Niiiiiiice. Kanye may be a maniac and in love with himself more than any of his fans could ever be… but the guy can back up all his talk.

I can not tell you how obsessed I am with this decision that MTV has made. So genius. So perfect.
Now I am a fan of Russell Brand and I loved the fact that he hosted the past 2 years for the MTV VMAs, but let’s be real… Chelsea Handler is perfect for this gig.
I am so excited to watch this year because 1) She will be hosting and 2) The Biebster is performing.
As a frequent guest on her show (see below)… these two have great chemistry and I am sure Chelsea will bring the awkwardness to a whole new level on September 12th. She will probably mock The Biebster and attempt to get him involved in inappropriate business with Kim Kardashian.
This is going to be such good television… but I feel most of the celebrities are frightened by this prospect.
(btw… this post was clearly just an attempt to mention The Biebster and to watch some videos of him flirting)

My golden boy Lee DeWyze has a new date set for his album November 16th.
It was originally set for October 26th but we all knew that wasn’t going to happen. Nice to dream and be ambitious though.
It was all too rushed, and plus darling Taylor Swift was releasing her highly anticipated album “Speak Now” the same day and that would have been awkward for everyone involved.
Lee DeWyze’s Untitled Debut Is Set For Release November 16
Los Angeles, CA- August, 19, 2010 – 19 Recordings/RCA Records announce November 16, 2010 as the release date for American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze’s debut album. The 24-year-old Illinois singer-songwriter impressed millions when he won America’s most watched music reality television show this year.
DeWyze has been on the nation-wide American Idols Live Tour the entire summer, writing and recording the music for his debut. “I’ve been very fortunate to be able to collaborate with some amazing songwriters on new songs over the past 3 months,” says Lee. “I can’t wait for everyone to hear my debut album.”
The new music will showcase Lee as an individual artist and longtime songwriter who has come a long way since his audition for American Idol in Chicago. DeWyze is a self-taught musician who has been singing and playing the guitar since his early teenage years.
Lee recently won the Teen Choice Award for Male Reality/Variety Star and continues to impress his fans with his growth and maturity as an artist in the short time since he won the show.
I think Kanye West’s and Rascal Flatt’s albums are coming out that day as well… but at this time of year there is no way to avoid the heavy hitters. This is the prime quarter to release an album, so Lee will be in good company and hopefully RCA/19 will be maniacs with promotion/marketing.
I’m glad they pushed it back because it will give Lee and Co. more time. The tour is over at the end of August, and with a break for Lee to rest thrown in there, it will be the perfect amount of time to wrap up the album.
And on a side note…. nice press release. I like how it is promoting his song writing abilities and the fact that he has been a musician for years prior to idol.
Can’t wait!!

Ace Young WTF

So Ace Young was on Season 5 of American Idol. Taylor Hicks won, Katherine McPhee was the hottie, and Chris Daughtry was awesome. Ace was somewhere in the midst of all this with his flowing, curly locks.
Not gonna lie… I did like him and his million dollar smile.
look at that smile. How could you not like the guy??
After Idol, he kind of fell off the face of the earth. I think he got married and was in the play Hair.
Now all of a sudden Ace Young kinda sorta has swag…. all dressed up in a suit, and getting set on fire by some hot chick. Oh and there is a rapper (long time collaborator and friend Tha Villian) in the song too.
WTF ACE?!?!?! I never saw this coming at all.
I thiiiiiiiiiiink I like the song. I don’t really want to decide. It kind of makes me uncomfortable to see Ace in this light.
It’s being released in Canada and I’m sure they will give it a chance. Now all he needs is The Biebster to endorse him and Ace is golden!

I’m Gonna Implode From Excitement

Your eyes are not deceiving you…. you are actually seeing above what you think you’re seeing
THE BACKSTREET BOYS AND NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK TOGETHER ON STAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mind can’t comprehend what is happening. I heard about this, because it happened a few months back at Radio City Music Hall.
NKOTB had a show there and BSB came on stage and they all sang “I Want It That Way” (arguably one of the greatest pop songs of all time) Proof below:
Are you feeling what I’m feeling when you watch that? Pure Joy!! I feel like I just received proof that there is a heaven and I got a guaranteed seat.
Now my dear sister is such a NKOTB fan she would leave her husband if she had the opportunity to run away with Donnie Wahlberg. Not joking. When we got a chance to meet them, she shoved a handicapped person out-of-the-way to stand next to Donnie. Again not kidding.
And as for me… well I would run away with Nick, AJ from BSB, or even Joey from NKOTB. (They all have aged very well)
So like everyone else I thought this was a one time event that I missed and now have to regret for the rest of my life.
But someone at Live Nation is allowing me to die happy.
Apparently, they are going to do a tour early next year. WTF!?!? Like a whole slew of shows across the nation???… BSB and NKOTB together???? And to really set me off…. Boyz II Men might be on the bill. (My fingers are so jazzed with excitement it is hard to type this all out)
I AM NO LONGER ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT I DO DURING THIS CONCERT!
All those mentioned above are the reason why pop music is what it is… why it is so awesome. This is all too much for my delicate heart.
This is gonna happen. And me and my dear crazy sister are going to go. (And maybe one of us will bag us a boy bander!)
Oh and if you don’t believe me… just read it at E! News. If Ryan Seacrest is reporting it, it has to be true.
