*edit* I’m also the only person who was calling it “what was once” instead of “what once was”… confusing title
Am I the only person that had no idea about this?? Probably.

Wuli Records is releasing a collection of new/old/you guys probably know every word songs on an album called What Once Was,which not gonna lie, depresses me a little bit. “What once was” was something I say about my awesome dead dog.
Anyway… I’m obviously OBSESSED with the album artwork. I’m gonna get it just for the cover.
Love the cartoon Lee Bear except he looks like an ostrich and not a bear, but that’s okay.

I also love the combo of the Amish beard (hey Amish heeeey!) and he skinny/high water jeans he has on. It’s a little Nightmare Before Christmas-ish but who doesn’t love a depressed skeleton names Jack who’s in love?? No one.
You can hear snippets of this HERE and it’s filled with ollllllllld school Lee. Like, there’s some sort of Spanish diddy on this, I think I heard a choir at one point, and he’s still in his Amish phase I believe, because it lacks electricity.
This album comes out February 14th so if your boyfriends/husbands/girlfriends don’t get you this for Valentine’s day… you should probably break up with them.
*EDIT* As I’m sitting here, taking the day off because I’m illin’ (not the cool kind) I received a Lee D tweet with his incoherent thoughts on this “new album”:
“never heard I it”… I think he means “never heard of it”. Glad he know’s what’s going on. He obviously blocked out his Amish past.

None of these songs have been on previous albums, except Princess & this is a different version of that song. Several of them have been released singly before.
I love the cover-the Amish beard, the beanie, the footwear-the Nightmare Before Christmas style drawing.

Well hey Cindy a/k/a artemis! We’ve got more in common than our names – we almost gave the same reply haha! I love his pre-idol music (Annabelle, Stay, Dreaming Alone, etc.) and am looking forward to getting this cd!

At least we know he is out there and aware of what’s goin on! Of course his fans realize this isn’t his ‘new’ album but by his retweet before his comment it’s clear that some people don’t! I think he wants that to be perfectly clear…I don’t blame him!

This post is really taxing my brain! I think I have about half of those songs. I like the others but why is it selling for English pounds!? What? Lee always sounds frustrated when his old music comes up. What to do. Maybe I’ll look on iTunes and if it’s not there consider it an omen to just wait for the new music.

Oh, this is gonna be another struggle for me trying to get myself a digital copy of the album and probably a CD eventually. Thank you, Rocco, for letting me know. WuLi Records certainly has a way of capitalizing on their top discovery. And love me some “old-ish” Lee tunes anytime. I live that artsy cover, too. Reminds me of a cartoon feature I saw as a kid nut not A.N.B.C.

I am excited that more of Lee’s old music is coming out of the vault on one CD. However, although I appreciate what Wuli did for Lee at the start of his career, I think they are acting a bit like jealous ex-wives. Rocco, I agree with your comment about the album title. Calling the album “What Once Was” implies that something good from the past has been lost–that what IS now is inferior. The irony of this title is the main thing I don’t like about this release. Nostalgia is wonderful, but Lee is moving forward and I can hardly wait to hear his NEW CD. Otherwise, good for Wuli, but I certainly hope Lee is still going to get paid for his songs and performances on this CD.

OH! This entire time I thought it was his new album. Psshh looks like I am more behind than you! I like the art work too but doubt I will buy a CD full of songs I already have from buying his previous two albums. lol

i agree and to be honest idk if im into the old school sooo much… too experimental for me. lol
but glad some new-ish music is coming out. though, id’ prefer an actual album on new songs

i don’t think any of the songs were on either of his pre-idol cd’s. some of the songs have been released separately by wuli during the past few months.
