I’m gonna spend the majority of my wikipedia-ing this and reading the page over and over until I can wrap my brain around it.
And then after that I’m gonna watch this god awful movie Leap Year because I have an inkling that this movie can really educate me on things.

Now here’s another question that has kept me wondering for all these years: When do people born on Feb 29 celebrate their birthday in ‘normal’ years, Feb 28 or March 1? My friends and I used to joke that people born on the extra day in a leap year celebrate their birthday every four years, but I still have no idea when they actually do that because I’ve never met one born on that day.

Maybe I can try to explain. It doesn’t take *exactly* 365 days for the earth to revolve around the sun, it takes about 365.25 days. But we don’t account for the 1/4th of a day in the calendar because How do you do that? By the 4th year, we end up being a whole day behind (earth hasn’t completed it’s revolution around the sun) So, we add 1 extra day every 4 years so we don’t “lose” days. Does that help?
