You Knew This Was Coming. My One Direction New Music Video Freak Out– “Live While We’re Young”

Posted on: September 21, 2012

I can’t deal with these One Direction fools. Why do they have the catchiest goddamn songs?

Part of me was hoping I’d hate the new single/new album so I could move on with my life, but nooooooooo!

They just keep repeating the same words over and over again over a catchy hook, add some “whooa oh oh oh”‘s, make a pointless music videos with wet t-shirt antics and giant blow up bananas and BAM! I love them.

“Live While We’re Young” is brilliant. Pure genius.

My only beef with this video is that I wasn’t invited to this rambunctious camp site party, and two, it’s pretty much “Live While We’re Young” by Zayn Malik and The One Directions. I guess that’s not beef— I just need the soothing voice of Harry Styles for an entire verse or at least a pre chorus.

Anyway, basically… I f**king love it!

First off, the repetition: They know it’s “crazy crazy crazy” and they “never never never” want to stop for anyone. Oh and they also want to “get together, yeah get together” because it’s “now or never, yeah now or never”. I thought my lyric recognition, comprehension and memory has improved, but really One Direction just masks that skill with A LOT of repetition, A LOT of repetition.

Second, there’s great advice during the entire song: Let’s bang the instant we meet because we are young and the world could end is basically the message, and I’m okay with that. They’re cool with it to as long as the pictures don’t leave your phone (seriously… that’s a line in the song).

We should all just pretend that it’s love even though you may have just met the person is another strong theme throughout the song and I’m certainly okay with that. ”I know we only met, but let’s pretend it’s love” is the greatest line in pop music today. (Even better than “if I’m louder could you see me”– also brought to you by 1D– and any line in “Call Me Maybe” and you all know how I feel about that) I seriously want to tattoo that on my body and I’m obviously using that line on my big night outs.

Third, the gifs from this silly video (mostly brought to you by Zayn Malik) are out of control. Like I can’t even deal.

Zayn stop it with your plaid shirt being all hot and silly. That ONE blonde highlight looks great

Who doesn’t wake up and punch tiny, stuffed tigers? No one and certainly not Harry

Random pointing? Sign me up!

Harry— my dream of seeing you on a trampoline with a giant banana between your legs has been realized.

Good thing he’s a musician

Classic boy band dance moves? Not for these lads. They are innovators.

Violent shoves amongst members? Hilarious

Never wanted to be invited to a pool party more

Again, this pool party needs to find my invite

Zayn you look like a serial killer— but I still want to make out with your totally over 18 self.

(sorry I got out of control with the gifs)

Zayn is photobomb-ing this entire video with “derp” faces. Harry Styles better step it up his game because Zayn is taking the lead in that little race I run in my head over who I love more.

Anyway, are those not the best things you’ve ever seen? If you say no, you are only lying to yourself.

To say I was fangirl-ing all day yesterday is an understatement. My poor co-workers.

“Live While We’re Young” can finally be purchased October 1st. Go get it. Take Me Home is out November 13. Get that too.
